Have you ever had that stirring before? It’s a shift that occurs in a place so deep and a part of you, that you may have never known it existed. It’s the discovery of something so new and profound that it causes your heart to flutter and your breath to become short. You stumble upon it and pause, reveling at this hiccup in life, a break in the mundane. There are no words to explain it, but you know something in you has come to life. This sacred place in you has awoken from its sleepy state, even if just for a moment.
The colors of fall…tucked-away coffee shops…the busy city life late in the night. Time and time again I have stumbled upon these new worlds. Places that have always been there, I simply have not had the eyes to see. Moments that occur often, but before now, have held no beauty to me.
The mixing of two colors of acrylic to discover a deep, rich hue that I never knew existed. Playing the right hand of piano, only to add the left and feel the music’s depth and beauty. My heart soars as I realize that this life that I had been living was not complete. There was more beauty, more depth, more life to be had…and I had found myself right in the midst of it.
And I wonder, how much joy does it bring God to live amidst the beauty? To see the joy in a little girl’s face as she swings at the park. To see the grace-filled eyes of a professor. To look upon those forgotten with love. I wonder how much joy it brings him to gaze upon the mountains and breathe in the colors of fall. I wonder…
…because I feel it too. This unexplainable joy. Eyes to see and a heart to feel that which I never knew existed. This LIFE that stirs deep within me upon discovering this world around me, seemingly for the first time. What joy there is in being the created. In looking around at the rest of creation and simply taking it in, recognizing that this beauty is so beyond anything you could imagine or create.
Look around, beloved. Close your eyes and open them with new perspective. This life is beautiful, but you have the choice to see it as such. Close your eyes and open them with a new heart. Pray to our beautiful Creator that he would stir deep within you. I promise that, in time, you will see the beauty of the creation around you…
…and life will never be the same.
